Lens FJs Prime Lens Series
FEATURES AND TECHNOLOGIES
Three significant technologies converge to produce the FJs prime lens series that has been specifically tailored to partner with todays highest performing HDTV portable cameras and camcorders:
Optical Technologies newly developed optical materials combined with the very latest lens element design innovations and their multilayer coatings that produce an unsurpassed pristine imaging system for the most discerning production team.
- Power Optics speaks to the combination of specialized materials (Hi Index, Ultra Low Dispersion glass and some Fluorite elements), contemporary optical design, and multilayer coatings that produce the superb imagery (called the X-element optics):
- Virtual elimination of curvature of field and dramatically reduced chromatic aberration
- Optimization of MTF at the wide aperture settings
- Very short MOD (19.7 inches for the 5mm, 35mm and 55mm lenses and maximum for the and 17.8 inches for the remainder of the lens series) and superb control of MTF as the object distance to the lens is varied.
- Internal Focus a Canon design innovation that uses a two group floating optical system to better control chromatic aberrations
Mechanical
- Common 95mm port on all of the lenses (same optical filters and matte boxes apply to all six lenses)
- Magnesium alloy body for lightweight and exceptional durability. Exceptionally low weight (at 3.3 lbs for the 5mm and 2.42 lbs for all others this is the lowest of all available 2/3-inch cine prime lenses)
- Most compact overall size of all presently available 2/3-inch prime lenses highly useful when shooting in tightly restricted environments
- Dual large and luminous scales for Focus (marked in feet) and Iris facilitate precision control in low light shooting environments
- 280 degree rotation for the Focus control
- Eight-blade Iris
- Traditional film-style lens feel and operation no mechanical play or backlash
- Unified and precision positioning of the Focus and Iris gearing facilitate rapid and accurate lens exchanges
- Gear rings are compatible with external standard motorized control systems used for film lenses.
Ecological Design All contemporary Canon lenses avoid the use of materials and substances potentially harmful to the environment. Lead has been removed from all optics and other identified substances from all components comprising the composite lens system.
