CANON INTRODUCES REMOTE CONTROLLED HALF-INCH
HIGH DEFINITION LENS
Economical KH19x6.7 KTS Remote Controlled HD Lens Meets Growing
Need for HD Imaging In Stationary and Robotic Applications
LAS VEGAS (NAB 2005, Booth # SU 7814), April 12, 2005 –As
interest in High Definition video continues to grow, innovative
uses of new compact broadcast and corporate HDTV cameras demand
lenses with features and benefits required by a wide variety of
applications and budgets. Canon’s new KH19x6.7 KTS Remote Controlled
High Definition lens is an example of how this optical technology
leader is meeting the challenge of HDTV performance at lower costs.
The lens, which meets the specifications of the Sony HDC-X300 camera
and the HDC-X310 (Sony's latest half-inch HD camera, which is being
introduced at NAB 2005), offers complete remote-control capabilities
of zoom, focus, and iris (functions identical to those in Canon’s
current line of remote control lenses), controllable either by Canon-manufactured
control devices, a Sony remote-control panel, or by robotic systems.
Applications include High Definition point-of-view imaging, HD robotic
and motion control, surveillance, and a broad spectrum of corporate
and business-to-business applications.
The KH19x6.7 KTS Remote Control Lens will also operate as an integral
part of Sony's "Auto Focus" system, in which the camera’s digital
capabilities direct the lens to the correct focus point. Only Canon
lenses, with a unique serial digital interface specially designed
for this camera, can be relied on for this critical feature.
High Definition video is quickly becoming a staple of the production
world, and Canon continues to develop unique lenses to support innovative
content creation and other applications both within and outside
the broadcast world.
