CANOBEAM
ADDS OPTELLIGENCE TO SALES FORCE
LAKE SUCCESS, NEW YORK, October 1, 2002 -- Canon
U.S.A. Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE: CAJ)
has announced the addition of Optelligence to its
sales force for the popular Canobeam line of optical
beam transceivers. A highly regarded optical team
with deep experience in Canobeam’s FSO sector,
Optelligence will represent Canobeam in a number of
states throughout the U.S.A.
Optelligence, headed by principals Bob Crall and
Sam Selim, bring a thorough understanding of strategic
trends in FSO and related fields to the representation
of Canobeam. Optelligence sales territory includes:
Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida,
South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky,
Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Colorado, Arkansas,
Illinois, Wisconsin and Ohio.
“Canobeam is a very exciting product for us,
with its ability to offer high data transmission with
total security to segments ranging from metro area
to business campuses, college campuses, federal, utility,
enterprise and service providers,” said Sam
Selim, corporate solutions manager for Optelligence.
“The Canon name has an outstanding reputation
for thorough engineering and support, and many of
our customers are excited to learn more about Canon’s
Canobeam line of FSO products.”
For network carriers looking to bridge the last mile,
to enterprise users connecting campus LANs, there
is a Canobeam for every requirement and budget. Building
on the high standards of performance and security
set by the Canobeam DT-50, the DT-55 is made exclusively
for fiberless transmission of Gigabit Ethernet and
features Canobeam’s unique Auto-Tracking System
and constant footprint function. For constructing
a low-cost, high-security, high-speed wireless data
network, the economical new Canobeam DT-30 is the
ideal solution.
The Canobeam DT-55 brings the highest level of security
and control yet to wireless Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.
The only system of its kind with Auto-Tracking (standard),
Canobeam DT-55 maintains alignment between units with
maximum reliability, even under conditions in which
buildings or other platforms sway due to altitude
or wind
conditions. With constant footprint, the DT-55 adjusts
the beam according to the distance it must travel,
maintaining beam focus and signal strength fully over
its 100m - 1,000m range. Plus, no FCC frequency allocation
is ever required. New features include an SC connector
multimode fiber interfaces for SNMP, SC connector
single-mode fiber interface for Gigabit Ethernet and
broader temperature specifications.
Field proven and user friendly, Canobeam DT-50’s
secure light beam is capable of transmitting data
at speeds up to 622 Mbps at a distance of up to 2
km, providing a highly cost-efficient connection that
can be set up in a matter of minutes. The Canobeam
DT-50 has established itself as a versatile and solid
performer, optimizing transmission even from the tops
of buildings that are prone to sway and vibration.
Using Canon’s Auto-Tracking System and 3R repeater
technology for highly reliable links and constant
footprint, the DT-50 can accommodate Fast Ethernet,
FDDI and ATM/OC3.
The Canobeam DT-30 is a lower cost transceiver for
applications with shorter link distances (up to 500
m), where auto-tracking is not required. Ideal for
completing the “last mile” in optical
networks, the DT-30 supports data rates of 10 to 156
Mbps. Each unit comes with built-in management capabilities
via SNMP and Telnet, and no FCC allocation, permit
or license is required.
