Canon U.S.A. Healthcare Technologies SYSTEMS DIVISION SHIPS ITS 700TH DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY SYSTEM IN THE U.S.

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA, August 3, 2005 – Canon Medical Systems a division of Canon U.S.A., Inc. will be installing its 700th DR panel at a Kaiser Permanente facility in Northern California.

Canon DR systems have been installed at major hospitals and imaging centers throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America thanks to the collaboration of its distributor Virtual Imaging and its dealer network.

Since 1997, Canon U.S.A. Healthcare Technologies Systems Division has introduced five generations of flat panel sensors (Canon CXDI-11, Canon CXDI-22, Canon CXDI-31, Canon CXDI-40G and Canon CXDI-50G), offering a full range of DR system imaging solutions for multiple applications such as general, ICU, trauma and mobile bedside imaging.

Canon CXDI-50G portable DR system recently received an Industrial Design Excellence Award from the Industrial Designers Society of America and BusinessWeek Magazine for its innovative design and for expanding the range of radiographic exams that can be completed using DR technology. In July, Canon Medical Systems also was honored with Frost & Sullivan’s 2005 Customer Value Enhancement Award in Medical Imaging for successfully bringing innovative, portable, low-cost DR to the market and expanding the adoption of the technology.

Canon’s digital radiographic technology may be upgraded or retrofitted to existing x-ray equipment. These flat panel digital sensors use amorphous silicon (a-Si), providing high image quality and consistent image output. Canon DR systems help reduce exam times, increase throughput and contribute to substantial cost and labor savings.
